Vicor Technologies' Reports Prevention of Stroke by a Vicor Proprietary Fraction of Molecules

BOCA RATON, FLORIDA — October 1, 2001 — VICOR TECHNOLOGIES, INC., is pleased to announce the soon to be released White Paper on recent results concerning a “Vicor Proprietary Fraction” (VPF) that was used in a mouse model of cerebral ischemia. These results are quite amazing due to the fact that they have prevented stroke in 25% of animals receiving complete occlusion of the middle cerebral artery for 1 hour, and prevent stroke in 100% of animals receiving the IV-injection of VPF 30-min after the start of the 1-hour occlusion, that is, with the occluder still in place!

Additionally, the company has now established a relationship with a new outsource company, Molecular Therapeutics, Inc. Dr. Anchin (Associate Director for Research) and Dr. James Skinner recently went to Lexington, Kentucky, and met with Dr. Mark S. Kindy, the CEO of MTI. Vicor performed the pivotal studies in more than 40 animals to reveal the stroke-prevention effect of the state-specific molecules in VPF. The Company expects to do more work with MTI in the near future, that is, until they have identified the specific molecule in VPF underlying the stroke-prevention effect.

In other news, we are pleased to announce the engagement of Robert C. White of Hodgson, Ross, LLP, Attorneys at Law. Hodgson Russ is a 180-year-old law firm with an impeccable reputation. Mr. White has over 20 years experience in corporate and securities law. Mr. White et al will play an intricate role in guiding the company through proper channels during this important growth period.

Vicor is also pleased to announce the engagement of Elizabeth Hall of Elizabeth Hall, P.A. as our intellectual property attorney. Ms. Hall has over 15 years experience in writing patents in the biomedical field. She has extensive experience working with prestigious universities and colleges throughout the country. Vicor is now very close to applying for several patents with regard to its intellectual properties and we believe that Ms. Hall's experience and expertise will help Vicor define and patent its intellectual property, adding substantial value to Vicor.

Vicor is currently in final discussions with several accounting firms for the engagement of our Company's audit. This decision will be made in short order and the audit should be completed by late November. The audited financials will be made available when the audit is complete.

We would like to extend our sincere condolences to all of those affected by the tragic events of September 11.
