Overview

Vicor Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB: VCRT) creates innovative, non-invasive diagnostics based on its patented PD2i® nonlinear algorithm, a new vital sign that accurately determines the likelihood of pathological events in specific populations.

Vicor is currently in the process of commercializing its first three products:

  • The PD2i Analyzer™ measures heart rate variability in patients at rest, and in response to controlled exercise and paced respiration.
  • The PD2i CA™ (Cardiac Analyzer) identifies cardiovascular disease patients at risk of death from arrhythmia or pump failure.
  • The PD2i VS™ (Vital Sign) quickly evaluates critically-injured soldiers and civilians to improve triage and survivability. The PD2i VS™ is in ongoing trials in collaboration with the U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research (USAISR).

Vicor has 510(k) marketing clearance from the FDA for the PD2i Analyzer™.  Existing CPT codes provide physicians with reimbursement and a source of revenue for Vicor. Vicor expects additional clearances for the PD2i CA™ (for cardiac death resulting from arrhythmia or pump failure) and the PD2i VS™ (for trauma triage) in 2011.

Vicor anticipates additional applications for other disorders and diseases for the PD2i® nonlinear algorithm and software.

Vicor Therapeutics discovers and develops new drugs based on unique compounds Vicor scientists have isolated from hibernating animals. In animal trials, these compounds show great promise to be able to mitigate stroke, infarction, kidney failure, obesity, and other medical challenges.

Vicor suspended research on its Therapeutics platform in 2003 to conserve cash and focus on the commercialization of the PD2i Analyzer™.  Vicor Therapeutics remains in the pre-clinical testing phase while the Company awaits patent issuances and sufficient funding to enable continuation.

Achievements

  • Study demonstrates the ability of Vicor’s PD2i Analyzer™ to detect early subclinical autonomic dysfunction in young (12.9-31.5 years) asymptomatic individuals with type 1 diabetes mellitus (DM); with a P value of 0.0006, the study results are highly statistically significant.
  • Vicor enters agreement for Guangzhou Jiyuan Biotech to serve as exclusive distributor of its PD2i®products in the People’s Republic of China, Hong Kong, and Macau.
  • Vicor names Dr. Edward Lundy Chairman of its Scientific Advisory Board; Dr. Lundy is Chief of Thoracic Surgery and Director of the Active International Cardiovascular Institute at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, New York.
  • Vicor recruits 27 new independent sales representatives in territories across the U.S.
  • Vicor, in collaboration with the University of Mississippi, begins study to assess concussion in NCAA athletes using its PD2i Analyzer™.
  • Vicor, in collaboration with the University of Mississippi, begins study to identify normal ranges in PD2i®values obtained from tests performed with its PD2i analyzer on patients at rest, and in response to controlled exercise and paced respiration.
  • Vicor names Christopher Vissman National Sales Manager; Mr. Vissman is an accomplished sales executive with extensive experience in the sale of medical technologies.
  • Study of MUSIC Trial data shows the PD2i® nonlinear algorithm and software is predictive of total mortality, cardiac death, and heart failure in patients with left ventricular ejection fraction of less than/equal to 35%; with a P value of 0.004, the study results are highly statistically significant.
